Harbor Walk (Downtown)

Category Image

The Harbor Walk area of Punta Gorda connects the historic downtown area to the Harbor Walk trail that runs along the waterfront from Laishley Park to Fishermen’s Village & back to US41 along Henry St. History buffs have long enjoyed this area. Many of the homes were some of the first built in Charlotte County in the early 1900s. Not far from these homes is our history park, where the Punta Gorda Historical Society meets.

In the early 2000s the downtown area began to experience steady growth inspiring new interest in this area. In recent years, new homes have sprung up in updated Craftsman or Mid-century modern styles that combine the old with the new. These new construction homes are mixed in with the historic homes of yesteryear giving the area a distinct charm.

Anyone looking for an area with exceptional walk-ability will love this neighborhood. You can easily walk to Fishermen’s Village, Gilchrist Park, the dog park, or take a class at the Visual Arts Center. On Saturdays and Sundays, hop on over to the Farmer’s Market. Holidays are a must downtown. Families come from all over Charlotte County to take part in our Halloween festival. On July 4th, fireworks light up the Peace River.

If you enjoy a nice dinner or drinks with friends, there is no place more convenient to a host of local restaurants. West Marion serves as Punta Gorda’s ‘Main Street’ and runs right through this area.
